     Claire McCardell was born on 24 May 1905 in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland.2 She was the daughter of Adrian LeRoy McCardell and Eleanore Clingan. She married Irving Drought Harris in 1943.3 She died on 22 March 1958.2 She was buried in Frederick, Frederick county, Maryland.2

Extracts from her obituary in the New York Times, March 23, 1958: "Claire McCardell, designer of clothes to give women a look of casual comfort, died of cancer yesterday in New York Hospital. Her age was 52. She resided with her husband, Irving Drought Harris, an architect, at 151 East Seventy-ninth Street. If anyone could claim the title of `All-American designer for the All-American girl' it would be Claire McCardell. But she was a shy woman, and the honors that were heaped on her during her lifetime always came as a surprise… The honors Miss McCardell received for her casual designs included the Mademoiselle Merit Award (1943), the Coty American Fashion Critics Aware (1944), Best Sportswear Designer award (1946), Neiman-Marcus Award (1948) and the Women's National Press Club Award, presented to her by President Harry S. Truman in 1950."

     Adrian M. McCardell was born on 10 April 1908.1 He is the son of Adrian LeRoy McCardell and Eleanore Clingan. He married Phyllis Green circa 1946. He was President and Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank of Baltimore.

     He died in1963. Lee A. McCardell was born in 1901. He was the son of Edgar Stonebraker McCardell and Gertrude Barnet. Lee McCardell was a Newspaperman and correspondent for the Baltimore Sun.

     Lee McCardell was born on 27 November 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is the son of Adrian M. McCardell and Phyllis Green. Lee wrote, among other things, the book "Ill-Starred General: Braddock of the Coldstream Guards" (Library of Congress control number 57014574) published in 1958 by the University O Pittsburgh Press. One review of the book said "This is history, but in Mr. McCardell's skilled hands it reads like a novel." --St. Louis Globe-Democrat.

     Hannah Harry was born on 24 June 1797 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.1 She married Frederick Post Humrichouse, son of Peter Humrichouse and Mary Hadelman, on 17 November 1814.1 Her husband Frederick died on 5 October 1876.2,3 She died on 25 April 1880 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.1
