Her husband William died on 28 November 1980.3 She died on 29 January 1992 in Norfolk, Virginia.2

     William Ernest McCardell Jr. was born on 4 December 1939 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.2 He is the son of William Ernest McCardell and Mary Adelia Atkinson. William Ernest McCardell Jr. graduated circa 1970 from University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia, with a law degree. He married Emily Ann Yancey, daughter of Thomas Norman Yancey and Emily Kennedy, on 24 August 1974.1 He served several years as an officer in the United States Navy.
