Edmund Littlefield was born on 2 February 1755 in Colrain, Franklin County, the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which at that time was part of the of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Edmund Littlefield and Mary Caswell. He married Susannah Brown before 1790. He died on 28 August 1805 in Colrain, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
He was taxed in Stoughton, MA from 1777 to 1783. On the Lexington Alarm of the 17th of April 1775, he marched in Captain Peter Talbots company and was credited with 40 miles travel and four days services. In the year 1783 he moved to western Massachusetts, Hampshire County, where he married Susannah Brown. He founded and served as the pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Colerain. On the 15th of August 1793 he received a call from the Baptist Church of Halifax, Vermont to become their pastor. On February 2nd 1805 he sold his land in Guilford, Vermont, and moved to Ellisburg, Jefferson County, New York, where he purchased lots 50 and 58 of the Constable estate. His estate was appraised, in 1806, at $1598. In 1831 two of his sons, Ozias and Royal, graduated from Union College, New York. The balance of his family moved, about 1832, to Pretty Prairie (now LaGrange) Indiana.
