Daniel F. Chandler was born in May 1839 in Glocester, Providence County, Rhode Island.3,4 He was the son of Allen Chandler and Rebecca G. (unknown surname). He married Alpha M. Armington, daughter of James Henry Armington and Harriet Talbot, on 27 November 1863 in Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island, Note: Smithfield later became Central Falls.5 He died after 1 June 1900.6

Daniel and his family are shown in census listings as follows: 1870: Cranston, RI 1880: Smithfield, RI. He was shown as "keeps market" in 1870 and in 1880 as an overseer in a cotton mill.
The record of the marriage to Alpha lists Daniel's occupation as "Teacher" and his age (in Nov of 1863) as 23. If he was born in May of 1839 as the 1900 census says then he would have been 24 at the time of the marriage.4,7
