Heinrich Boehmer was born in 1689 in Ransweiler, Bavaria, Germany.1 He was the son of Simon Boehmer and Maria Margaretha Moser.1 He married Maria Elisabeth Haas in 1714 in Gangloff, Roth, Germany.1 He died in February 1754 in Manheim Township, York County, Pennsylvania Colony.1 In 1734 in the Reformed records of Gangloft, Alderman Henrich Boehmer and his wife Elizabeth of Roth were godparents to Simon Boehmer's son of Ransweiler.
He was an emigrant from Zweibruecken in 1738 (as found in a document in the Bavarian State Archives at Speyer, Germany marked: Zweibrucken III. 2035): Meisenheim - Heinrich Böhmer of Roth leaves for Pennsylvania.
Port of Philadelphia — Ship Glasgow Sept. 9, 1738 — Heinreich Bohmet, age 50: Johann Adam Böhmer, age 19; (these were signatures and very neatly written; and Johan Peter Edhmer, age 16. Women and children were not listed. Later research gave another son Johann Philip, age 9 in 1738; and daughters— Anna Elisabeth (oldest), Maria Sara (2nd dau.), Anna Eva, and Anna Margaretha (Bapt. 1736). The mother, Maria Elisabeth, may have died on the sea voyage or soon after the family arrived in Pennsylvania as there is no record of her in Coventry Twp., Chester County, PA where we first find the family in 1739. All the children were named in the will except Johan Peter.
April 10, 1743 — Heinrich was one of the signers of a petition to call Rev. Jacob Lischy to serve the members of Brownback's Church in Coventry Twp., Chester Co., PA (the early records are in the National Archives in Washington, DC).
Heinrich, Adam, and Philip Boehmer were on the Tax List in Brecknock Twp. in 1750. Heinrich Boehmer was listed as Tax Assessor in 1750 and Adam in 1752. It was probably at this time that Heinrich with his wife and two young children, Mary Barbara and Johann Heinrich, moved to Manheim Township in York County. Maria Barbara was born Dec. 1, 1742. Her step-father’s will listed her as his step-daughter wife of Philip Miller in 1788. And according to her mother’s will in 1795, she was listed as wife of Philip Miller, and there was a grand daughter, Barbara Miller, child of Barbara) and Johann Heinrich (born July 30 and baptized July 31, 1748. Recorded in Muddy Creek Reformed Church by Rev. Jacob Lischy), made the move to Manheim Twp., York Co. on the ‘improvement’ he had acquired from George Petry, which in his Will “was to be returned to George Petry for his pay”
Will probated Manheim Twp., York Co., PA March 15. 1754. Will Book A. Page 79.
