He married Nancy Pingry on 28 April 1817 in Ludlow, Windsor County, Vermont. His wife Nancy died on 24 May 1873. He died on 22 February 1885 in Andover, Allegany County, New York. He was buried in Andover, Allegany county, New York.

He married Catherine Fischer in 1919.3 His wife Catherine died in 1960; Elaine provided this info via phone call 6/22/2003. No luck with SSDI. He died on 18 December 1972 in Eden Valley, Meeker County, Minnesota.2

He married Catherine Friedman. Joseph Brulla was born on 30 November 1901 in Minnesota.2,3 He is the son of John Brulla and Mary Martha Kuehl. The assumption is made that Joseph and Matthew are twins, based on the ages reported in the 1910 and 1920 census records. They are listed at the same ages, and discounting very premature births (e.g. 5 or 6 month terms) they would have to be twins. Matthew's birth date was reported by the SSDI, so I assume Joseph's is the same. Joseph was not found in the SSDI.
Interestingly, in the 1920 census they are both identified as daughters (Mattie and Josie) while in 1930 they are Matthew and Joseph.
