     He died in 1859.1 Alburtis Malito McCardell was born on 21 June 1859.2 He was the son of Wilfred Dubois McCardell and Catherine M. Humrichouse. Conflicting evidence states that Alburtis was born on 28 June 1859.3

     Conflicting evidence states that Charles was born on 27 May 1855.1 He was born on 24 May 1856.2 He was the son of Willoughby Simon G. McCardell and Malinda (Belinda) Weaver. He died on 16 March 1860.3

     Willoughby Simon G. McCardell was born on 28 October 1817.3 He is the son of Thomas McCardell and Annie Nogle. He married Malinda (Belinda) Weaver on 20 May 1845.4 Willoughby was also known as "Simon Willoughby".5

     George Willoughby McCardell was born on 16 June 1848.3 He was the son of Richard Pindell McCardell and Annie Maria Eichelberger. He married Annie M. Ryan on 6 October 1896.4 He died after 1920.

The fifth son of Richard P. McCardell, George received his education in the public schools of Williamsport. At the age of nine years he became a driver on the Chesapeake and Ohio canal, and was engaged in that occupation for nine years. He began to learn printing in 1871, with his brother, Thomas F. McCardell who was at that time proprietor and editor of the "Williamsport Pilot". In 1872 he purchased the Pilot and conducted it until 1877, when he sold it and removed to McPherson City, McPherson County, Kansas, being among the first settlers of that county. Here he worked at his trade until 1881, when he returned to Williamsport, and was engaged in mercantile business for two or three years. In 1884 he bought the Williamsport Pilot and changed its name to the "Williamsport Leader," and conducted it for some time as an up-to-date weekly newspaper. He was also a toll collector of the C&O canal at Williamsport. In politics he was an independent Democrat. He never aspired to political office, but was elected Mayor of Williamsport in March, 1904, for a term of two years.

     Adiana McCardell was born on 5 April 1851.2 She was the daughter of Richard Pindell McCardell and Annie Maria Eichelberger. She died before 1906.3

The name "Adiana" comes from a reading of the McCardell Bible. In the 1860 census there is an "Anna" with the correct age to be Adiana (birth date reported in the bible). It is assumed that the name transition continued to the point where she was known as "Annie A." in the biography of her father in the "History and Biographical Record of Washington County, Maryland."4,1

     Jerome E. King was born on 20 March 1834. He was the son of (Unknown given name) King and (unknown given name) (unknown surname).2 He married Rachel Ann Shooke, daughter of (unknown given name) Shooke, before 1868. He died on 8 February 1908. Jerome was listed in the 1880 census as a carpenter and having five daughters: Margaret, Adeline, Jennie and Catherine besides Effie.2

     Reported in the bible extracts as Shook without the 'e', this is assumed to be an error in transcription. William H. Shooke was born on 29 July 1825.1 He was the son of (unknown given name) Shooke. He died on 11 November 1907.2

     Ambrose D. McCardell was born in 1836 in Maryland.3,4 He was the son of Richard Pindell McCardell and Annie Maria Eichelberger. He married Cecelia A. Oliver on 27 January 1863.3 He died in 1908.4

Ambrose was a lock tender on the canal near where he lived in Williamsport, MD.
