BENNER--On October 11, 1910, at the residence of his son, William W. Benner in Richland, of paralysis, John R. Bener aged 71 years, 4 months and 13 days. He was a son of William Benner and his wife Anna, nee Rothrock, and was born in Richland, Bucks County, Pa., May 28, 1839. He was baptized by William B. Kemmerer on the 27th day of July, 1839. The sponsors were Thomas Benner and Sarah Diehl. After due instruction in the Christian religion as taught and confessed by the Evangelical Lutheran church, he was in later years received into full membership of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church of Richlandtown Pa., by the Rev. William B. Kemmerer. He was married to Eleminah Landis on September 23, 1865, by the Rev. L. Groh. This union was blessed with four sons and three daughters. He lived to see 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His sickness was paralysis. He was ailing for two years, confined to bed seven months and was helpless for three weeks. His wife died August 20, 1907. Since the death of his wife he had his home with his sons William R. and Frank R. Benner. Four sons, three daughters, fifteen grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters survive. Two brothers and one sister died. The funeral services were held and interment took place at Richlandtown, October 15, 1910.
