| From: "Travis Boley" To: "'Richard Cleaveland'" Subject: RE: IBM/HF INQUIRY Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 13:19:55 -0500 Found the info you requested in the December 22, 1932 (vol. xx, no.7) edition of "Bowler's Journal" on page 2. The ABC doubles record of 1482 was set by Earl Cleaveland and Charlie Ciardo of Milwaukee at the Bensinger State Handicap Tournament in Milwaukee in 1932. Also that year, R. McAuliffe and F. Pfeffer of Omaha rolled a 1466 at the Nebraska State Tournament. Cleaveland/Ciardo's record broke the old score of 1458, set by F. Maerzke and H. O'Brien of Watertown, NY at the South Side Arcade Tournament in 1927. However, your uncle's name does not appear on the all-events 9-game totals. The top five are as follows: 1. Frank Benkovic, Milwaukee (2259 in 1932); 2. Frank Kastner, St. Louis (2145 in 1930); 3. Howard Sanders, Dayton (2124 in 1929); 4. Erving Brusman, St. Louis (2123 in 1932); 5. John Kuth, Milwaukee (2103 in 1912). Hope this helps. Sincerely, F. Travis Boley Curator |
