Margaret Kirkland
     Margaret Bittner was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, July 31, 1839, and passed away at her home in Hudson, Indiana, early in the morning of October 24, 1916; aged 77 years, 2 months and 23 days.
     At an early age she came with her parents to Indiana where she lived the greater part of her life.
     On November 3, 1857, she was united in marriage with Boyd W. Kirkland. To this union three sons were born, of whom two survive: Charles Kirkland of Hudson and Clyde Kirkland of Gibsonburg, Ohio. One son, Frank, having passed away at the age of three years. her husband also preceded her in death having passed away on May 15, 1907.
     For more than thirty-five years she has held Christian fellowship with the Presbyterian church at Pierceton, Indiana. Mrs. Kirkland was also a member of Hudson Chapter No. 373 Order of the Eastern Star and held the office of Associate Conductress at the time of her death.
     She had been a resident of Hudson for twenty-four years and had a wide circle of friends in this vicinity where she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
     Besides her two sons, Mrs. Kirkland leaves eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren also three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Koontz of Bluffton, Indiana, Mrs. William McComb and Mrs. J. R. Marshall of Lima, Ohio, and one brother W. S. Bittner of Goslien, Indiana and many friends.
     Funeral services were held at her late residence at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25th. Rev. H.L. hart officiating. Burial at Circle cemetery.
