William Bradford was born on 29 March 1590 in Austerfield, Yorkshire, England. He was christened on 29 March 1590 in Austerfield, Yorkshire, England.3 He was the son of William Bradford Jr. and Alice Hanson. He married Dorothy May, daughter of John May and Cordelia Bowes, on 10 December 1613 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.4,5 William immigrated to Plymouth Colony aboard the Mayflower in 1620 . His wife Dorothy died on 16 December 1620; of drowning. He married Alice 'Allis' Carpenter, daughter of Alexander Carpenter and Priscilla (Drucilla) Dillen, on 14 August 1623 in the Plymouth Colony.6 He died on 9 May 1657 in the Plymouth Colony.
He was elected governor of the Plymouth colony in April of 1621 after the death of John Carver. He is the author of HISTORY OF THE PLIMOUTH PLANTATION, a very important chronicle of the early days of the colony. His rule as Governor is said to have been firm and judicious, and to have contributed greatly to the success of the colony.

Other children are listed in some of Stephen Bradford's material dtd 21 March 1991. William Bradford was born on 17 June 1624 in the Plymouth Colony.3 He was the son of William Bradford and Alice 'Allis' Carpenter. He married Alice Richards, daughter of Thomas Richards and Welthian Loring, on 23 April 1650 in the Plymouth Colony.4 He married Mary (Wiswell) (unknown surname) after 1670/71 in the Plymouth Colony.2 He married Mary (Holmes) Atwood circa 1676 in Duxbury, in the Plymouth Colony. He died on 20 February 1703/4 in Plymouth, Plymouth County in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which at that time was part of the of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. William's will was probated on 10 March 1703/4, Plymouth Colony.5
Major William served the colony as a close assistant to the Governor. Alice Richards was born circa 1627 in the Plymouth Colony. She was the daughter of Thomas Richards and Welthian Loring. She married William Bradford, son of William Bradford and Alice 'Allis' Carpenter, on 23 April 1650 in the Plymouth Colony.1 She died on 10 December 1671 in the Plymouth Colony.2
