William Benner was born on 28 June 1809 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.3,4 He was the son of John Ludwig Benner and Susannah Horn.2 He married Nancy Rothrock, daughter of Joseph Rothrock and Margaret Bean, say 1831. He died on 8 March 1875 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.5,6 He was buried in Saint John's Church Graveyard in Richlandtown, Bucks county, Pennsylvania.6

William was a farmer, shown in the 1860 census as having real estate worth $4500 and personal property worth $1500. According to the records of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church records (microfilm on file at Spruance Library) William and Nancy Benner had a child William, born 11 August 1836, christened 13 November 1836. This would make this son about 24 at the time of the 1860 census. Since he does not show up as living with the rest of his family in that census7, he probably had died or moved away by then. The same church records indicate that the William Benner that was a communicant in the church along with Nancy Benner in 1871 and 1872 died in March of 1875.
