George Washington Adams was born circa 1805 in New Hampshire; The determination that George Washington Adams was the son of the George Adams of Henniker, Hillsboro County, New Hampshire shown in the 1810 Census as having two sons of the appropriate age is highly tentative. It is based on the name similarity and child dates and the state of birth only.
Note the 1880 census shows a birthplace of Vermont.5,6 He was the son of George Adams.4 He married Sabra Streeter, daughter of Nathan Streeter and Naomi Alderman, after 1820 in New York.1 His wife Sabra died on 11 June 1868. He married Damar (unknown surname) after July, 1868.7 He died on 29 October 1882 Brookdale, St. Lawrence County, New York.
George was a farmer. The 1830 census lists him as "Washington", the 1840 census lists him as George W. and the 1850 and 1880 census reports show him as Washington Adams (no "George"). In the 1880 census he is shown as married to a "Daman" (very hard to read, may well be quite different) who was 66 at the time. They were living very near the William and Benjamin Streeter families, who were living together with their wives and four children. It is possible that these Streeters were related to his first wife, Sabra.
This appears not to be the George Washington Adams who was the son of John Quincy Adams. According to ANCESTORS AND DESCENDANTS OF JEREMIAH ADAMS 1794-1883, by Enid Eleanore Adams, that son of John Quincy was born in 1801 and died unmarried in 1829.
Previous assumptions that George Adams of Ludlow was the father of GW were discounted by email from Linda M. Welch (Linda.M.Welch@Dartmouth.EDU) received 22 May 1998.

Charles F. Adams
This is probably the wealthy "uncle" Charlie remembered by Earl Grant Cleaveland [1908-]. Earl says "This Charles Adams had a nice home I think on Colorado Ave. in Pasadena and a court of rental units across the street. When I was 12 Ma, Ethel and I had the use of one of those units. I think maybe Jerry too, although Jerry didn't come out on the train with us, but drove out with Roy in the old Monroe. That would be 1920. I understood Charlie gave all to his secretary of many years for her devoted service. I showed Catherine the home when we were there in 1932, although he was dead, so didn't stop in."4
