About 100 years ago Daniel and Mary Roberts with eight children, came from the state of New York to Jackson Prairie and after this a son, Ziba was born to them. After the death of his father and mother Ziba and his wife Louisa began their Wedded life on the old homestead and to them were given five children. The eldest of whom, Truman E. Roberts, was born Oct. 7th 1860. Truman attended school in Orland and at fifth Valparaiso and was always interested in education. On his 27th birthday he was united in marriage with Miss Eva Ireland who passed away in the fall of 1916 leaving her husband and two sons, Ralph and Hugh, with the memory of a loving mother. On Sept. 3rd 1919 he married to Mrs. Dora Richner, with whom he lived very happily and well beloved by the members of her family until his death Oct. 2nd 1937. He leaves to mourn their loss two sons and their wives, three stepchildren, a brother Roy, three grandchildren, two nephews and a host of friends. He was trustee of Jackson Township several years. He was always interested in the work of the church and the welfare of the community, was a loyal citizen and friend had a great lover of the peace and quietude of his home The funeral was held in the Flint M. E. church on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. A. Turner pastor M. E. church had Ray. Burial was in Jackson Prairie Cemetery. |
