My recollection is +22 Adrian McCardell's middle name was Cealfred - I will check on the spelling - not "Grotfrid". Also +53 Edgar S. McCardell (my grandfather's father!) married Abby Gertrude Barnes - not Barnet.
My grandfather Lee A. McCardell was born in 1901 and died in 1963. He had a sister, Laura Abby McCardell, born in 1898 and died 1969(?) She married John Homer Remsburg of Frederick County and had 4 children.
An interesting note: we have always been told that an Eliza 'McCardle' (spelled differently when she went to TN some time in her life) married Andrew Johnson (17th President.) I have been able to verify he was indeed married to an Eliza 'McCardle'. I was wondering if she might be #4, the Eliza McCardell daughter of Thomas McCardell, 2nd generation son of James?
I could not find Adm James McCardell on your website but I guess I am related to your cousin's wife [sic].
I will try to get a copy of the family genealogy in my mother's Bible.
